Appendix B - Revenue and spending

Total revenue for 2014‑15 is expected to be $391.3 billion, an increase of 4.6 per cent on estimated revenue in 2013‑14. Total expenses for 2014‑15 are expected to be $414.8 billion, a decrease of 0.1 per cent on estimated expenses in 2013‑14.

Where revenue comes from (2014‑15)
Individuals income tax constitutes the largest contribution to revenue followed, in order, by: Company and resource rent taxes; sales taxes; non-tax revenue; fuels excise; customs duty; other excise; superannuation taxes; fringe benefits tax; and other taxes.
Where taxpayers' money is spent (2014‑15)
Social security and welfare is the largest expense followed, in order, by: other purposes, health, education, defence, general public services, other economic affairs, transport and communication, fuel and energy, housing and community amenities, public order and safety, recreation and culture, agriculture forestry and fishing, and finally mining, manufacturing and construction.
