Retention of Russell Offices

The Government has decided that the proposed sale and lease back of Russell Offices will not proceed. This will reduce expected proceeds for Defence assets sales in 2002-03.

As a consequence, the Department of Finance and Administration, which was charged with managing the sale, will return $3.6 million of the funding set aside for this purpose. As this is a return of cash there is no impact on the fiscal balance.
